Nielson, Jessica
Violin II Principal
began playing violin at age 10 in middle school orchestra. She was lucky to land in the orchestras of Sam Tsugawa, who encouraged her talent and love for orchestral repertoire until she was able to begin private lessons at age 16. Her dedication and passion led her to a degree in violin performance at Brigham Young University, where she studied under Kory Katseanes and Monte Belknap.
She performed and toured with BYU Philharmonic and Chamber orchestras, and graduated in 2010. Jessica is also a certified Suzuki teacher and has been teaching violin for 20 years. Orchestral playing is still her favorite way to relax and rejuvenate, and currently, she’s enjoying rehearsing weekly with the Nebo Philharmonic. When she's not playing the violin, Jessica enjoys spending time at home in Spanish Fork with her husband and five energetic kids. Her hobbies include hiking, face painting, reading, and baking.
