Alex Harrelson

Tenor

Alex Harrelson is a 22-year-old tenor Masters student from Tryon, North Carolina. He currently studies with Dr. Robert Breault at the University of Utah. In 2021, Alex graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Davidson College. He majored in Music, studying voice with Jacquelyn Culpepper. While at Davidson, he had the pleasure of performing as the tenor soloist in two Messiah “Sing-a-long” performances, conducted by Dr. Christopher Gilliam. In 2019, he

received a Fujita Arts Grant from Davidson College to attend La Musica Lirica and the International Vocal Artists Academy of Payerbach. While at La Musica Lirica, located in Novafeltria, Italy, he performed as Gherardo in a Copeland Woodruff production of Gianni

Schicchi.

In 2020 he was scheduled to perform in the Brevard Music Center Summer Program. Unfortunately, COVID-19 derailed this opportunity. In the summer of 2021, he returned to La Musica Lirica to perform as Gastone in a Michael Scarola production of La Traviata. In his first year at the University of Utah, he performed as Ferrando in scenes from Così fan tutte, and as Anthony in Sweeney Todd, both directed by Dr. Robert Breault. Most recently, he returned to La Musica Lirica for a third time to perform as Lindoro in a David Ronis production of L’Italiana in Algeri. He is looking forward to performing as King Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors and Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol with the University of Utah and the Grand Theatre this December.
