Kameron Kavanaugh

is a native of Payson, UT. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Choral Music Education from Brigham Young University-Idaho in 2014 Idaho and his Master’s degree in Choral Conducting from Brigham Young University in 2017. He conducted several premiere performances of student compositions including large multi-movement works and small chamber works, including Michael Merrill’s Mass for the Last Days performed by alumni of the BYU-Idaho Collegiate Singers in 2013. As a choral singer, he toured with BYU-Idaho Collegiate Singers to Ghana, Africa in 2013 and Minnesota in 2011. He has also performed as a member of the BYU Singers in combined performances with the King’s Singers and Tenebrae in 2016. In May of 2017, he founded “The Sound of Ages”, a professional level chamber choir specializing in Early Music. The group has recently completed its first recording project and plans to perform throughout Utah County during the summer of 2018. As a composer, Kameron was a finalist in the Brock Composition Competition with his unaccompanied choral setting of Edgar Allan Poe’s Evening Star. As a finalist, he was invited to participate in the National American Choral Directors Association Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota in March of 2017. At the conference his piece was work shopped in a masterclass setting with two of the most prolific choral composers of the day: Steven Sametz and Libby Larsen. He continues to receive commissions from Jr. High, High School, and collegiate ensembles around the state. Kameron is currently in his third year of working as the Director of Choirs at Spanish Fork Jr. High School. Outside of music his hobbies include spending time with his family and playing sports.
