Jeanice Nelson Woodbrey

is delighted to join NHCO as soprano soloist for their upcoming performance of Handel’s Messiah in their inaugural year. She is equally comfortable on stage and in the teaching studio, maintaining a thriving private studio and performing frequently in a variety of venues for more than twenty five years. She was a principal performer with the Utah Lyric Opera Society for ten years, working as a featured soloist in multiple concerts, and appeared as Madame Silverpeal in Mozart’s The Impresario, as well as Edith in The Pirates of Pennzance. She was also featured in the 2000 Sundance Review, commissioned by Robert Redford. She has sung the role of Marian in The Music Man (American Fork/Highland Arts Council) and Fiona in Brigadoon. She has been the soprano soloist for Handel’s Messiah with multiple organizations, including the Sevier Oratorio Society, Payson Civic Chorale and Orchestra, and Lake Bonneville Community Symphony. She is also featured in the demonstration recordings of Authentic Bel Canto : The ABCs of Beautiful Singing (Harbrecht-Mitton 2014)

Ms. Woodbrey has pursued continuous vocal training, the genesis of her studies beginning at Utah State University as a student of classical vocal performance and pedagogy. She has received additional training at a wide variety of vocal conferences, including the Richard Miller workshop at BYU, the NATS National convention in SLC, Utah, and Opera and Musical Theatre in 21st Century: Tradition and Innovation Converge in New York City, NY. She completed her certification at the CCM Institute at Shenandoah University in VA in July 2017.

Ms. Woodbrey served as a board member from 2005-2015 in the NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) Central Utah chapter. (Formerly Southern Utah.) She served as VP of Events, and later as VP of Adjudications. She currently works as an adjunct voice teacher in the MDT (Music Dance Theater) department at Brigham Young University, and continues to maintain her private voice studio. She finds great joy in seeing her students succeed as they dream big and work diligently to accomplish their goals.
